As a dedicated Wordle player and a fan of its many variants (like Quordle, Dordle, Octordle, and Sedecordle), I’m always on the hunt for strategies to keep my winning streaks strong with minimal stress.
One strategy I’ve come across is using multiple guesses with words that feature distinct letters of the alphabet.
By playing four or five words with no repeating letters, you can quickly cover 20-25 characters, giving yourself an almost guaranteed shot at cracking the word of the day on your final guess.
Interestingly, this strategy has attracted the attention of Wordle enthusiasts and researchers alike. They’ve run codes on the official Wordle word list and found a set of words that cover 25 characters between them. The words they suggest include:
- BEMIX CLUNK GRYPT VOZHD WAQFS
- BLING JUMPY TRECK VOZHD WAQFS
- BLUNK CIMEX GRYPT VOZHD WAQFS
- BRICK GLENT JUMPY VOZHD WAQFS
- BRUNG CYLIX KEMPT VOZHD WAQFS
- BRUNG KEMPT VOZHD WAQFS XYLIC
- CHUNK FJORD GYMPS VIBEX WALTZ
- CLIPT JUMBY KRENG VOZHD WAQFS
- FJORD GUCKS NYMPH VIBEX WALTZ
- GLENT JUMBY PRICK VOZHD WAQFS
- JUMBY PLING TRECK VOZHD WAQFS
While these words are valid in Wordle, I find them to be a bit odd—they seem more like something a computer would generate than natural, everyday language.
This got me thinking: Are there better combinations of words that feel more familiar and human while still using most, if not all, of the alphabet?
That’s what inspired this post. I’ve put together a list of words that cover a large portion of the alphabet and feel more like something you’d use in real life.
I hope this helps you level up your game—happy solving!
