What Is Dordle?

Dordle by zaratustra (or simply Dordle) is a daily word puzzle that challenges you to solve two hidden five letter words at the same time. Inspired by Wordle, every guess is entered into both puzzle grids simultaneously, with each grid providing its own color coded feedback. Your goal is to identify both words within seven guesses by using the clues revealed after each attempt. While the rules are easy to learn, balancing two puzzles at once makes Dordle a fun and rewarding challenge for players looking for something more demanding than the original Wordle.

Key Features of Dordle

Some of the key features of Dordle are:

  • Dordle is a double version of Wordle, where players have to guess two 5-letter words simultaneously instead of just one.
  • It is considered a more challenging version of Wordle as it requires players to manage two word puzzles at once using the same set of guesses.
  • Players have 7 attempts to correctly guess both words.
  • The game provides color-coded feedback on the letters, just like Wordle, but the keyboard shows the feedback for each word separately.
  • Dordle can be played in two modes – a daily challenge mode where everyone gets the same two words, or a free play mode with randomly generated words.
  • The game was created by indie developer Guilherme Tows under the Zaratustra Productions banner.

The Best Strategies for Playing Dordle

Here are some simple strategies that have helped us maintain our winning streaks over the past few months we’ve been playing the game.

1. Focus on One Word at a Time:

Start by guessing one word as quickly as possible, usually within 3-4 tries.

Use the first 1-2 tries to get as much data as possible.

Then, choose the side with the most information and follow it to the end.

2. Choose a Good Starting Word:

Select a word with common letters like E, S, T, R, A, N, and vowels like A, O, I, U.

Alternatively, choose a word with 5 distinct letters, such as S, E, A, O, R, I, L, T, N, and U.

3. Manage Your Guesses:

Save your last attempt to solve the second word, as you cannot use it to solve both words at once.

Use your guesses wisely, as each one provides valuable information for both words.

4. Follow the Keyboard:

Pay attention to the keyboard to get a viable impression of the letters and their occurrences, which can be used to your advantage

5. Practice and Adapt:

The more you play, the better you will become at managing the dual grids and adjusting your strategy.
